Bramcote & Wollaton

Bramcote is a popular suburb close to Wollaton, the A52 link to the MI motorway, Derby and the proposed HS2 hub at Toton, as well as being ideal for anyone who works in Nottingham. Bramcote benefits from excellent regular bus services, as well as the new tram service into the city centre.

Among Bramcote’s many attractions are a number of green spaces including the award winning Bramcote Hills Park and King George’s Park. Both parks are focal points for a number of year-round community activities which cater for indoor as well as outdoor interests.

Bramcote is a great place to bring up a family because there are local schools covering all age groups, play areas and an impressive Leisure Centre. At the other end of the age spectrum, there are plenty of local social activities and it’s so close to Wollaton and Beeston, both of which have excellent retail outlets and numerous other facilities. It’s true to say that Bramcote enjoys a strong community spirit.

This leafy Nottingham suburb is perhaps best known for Wollaton Hall and Deer Park, one of the most attractive locations in Nottinghamshire. However, look a little wider and you’ll quickly discover that Wollaton has much, much more to offer.

One of the major benefits of living in Wollaton is its location. Wollaton is within walking distance of Nottingham University’s two campuses, at University Park and Jubilee Campus. University Park offers a range of year round activities which are open to the public. You can attend concerts, free lectures, visit an award winning museum and art gallery, and enjoy meeting your friends at one of several on-site eateries. Also within walking distance is the Queen’s Medical Centre so Wollaton is popular with those who work at the QMC.

Wollaton has excellent transport links. For example, it’s about 10 minutes from the M1 motorway, Derby and the proposed HS2 hub at Toton. And there are excellent, regular bus services, and now the second phase of the brand new tram service into the centre of Nottingham for those who don’t fancy driving in by car.

But, you don’t have to go into the city to do your shopping. Wollaton boasts thriving retail areas with lots of independent shops and a recently opened Waitrose supermarket. There’s a medical centre, library, post office, hairdressers, coffee shops, banking facilities, several pubs and plenty of small businesses offering a wide range of services.

Whatever your age, Wollaton is a great place to live. For families with children, there are pre-school facilities, primary and secondary schools, children’s play areas, scout groups and other after-school activities. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are plenty of green spaces in the area over and above those at Wollaton and University parks, a nature reserve at Martin’s pond, plus a golf club alongside Wollaton Park which doesn’t have a joining fee and welcomes visitors.
